Lear has been appointed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”) to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Antimonopoly Committee (“AC”), the competition authority of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The aim of the project is to provide training to the staff of the AC focusing on the main economic and legal concepts and practices within competition law enforcement as well as the quantitative and econometric methods in competition analysis. Lear has been selected by the EBRD to provide technical assistance to the Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (“SCPEC RA”). The aim of the project is to support the institutional development, policy enforcement capacity, and advocacy activities of the SCPEC RA, through a comprehensive capacity building programme based on extensive trainings, advocacy support, market studies and secondary legislation drafting. COMPETITION ADVOCACY TRAINING AT THE FAIR TRADING COMMISSION IN JAMAICA
On March 19 and 20, Paolo Buccirossi and Salvatore Nava will be in Kingston, Jamaica, to deliver a training to the officials of the Jamaican Competition Authority (FTC). The training will conclude the assignment, which entailed identifying gaps in the advocacy efforts carried out by the FTC in recent years and devising an advocacy strategy for future initiatives.
