Lear has been appointed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”) to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Antimonopoly Committee (“AC”), the competition authority of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The aim of the project is to provide training to the staff of the AC focusing on the main economic and legal concepts and practices within competition law enforcement as well as the quantitative and econometric methods in competition analysis. The project envisages also the evaluation of the impact of the training programme on the capacity of the AC staff.
This project is in line with the overarching mandate of the EBRD to invest into market-oriented economies and strengthen their competitiveness by increasing competition across multiple sectors, improve the allocation of resources, increase enterprise productivity and, ultimately, improve the quality of goods and services available to the population. The kick-off meeting will take place in the upcoming weeks.
Recently, Lear has been appointed by the EBRD for similar projects involving the Armenian Competition Protection Commission and the Albanian Competition Authority
