Andrea Giacalone is a Research Assistant at LEAR, working on applied microeconomics and competition economics.
In 2026, he earned an MSc in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University in Milan. His thesis studies how recommendation rules shape consumer–product matching, market attention, and product visibility over time, combining Netflix data, structural demand estimation, and counterfactual analysis.
He gained policy experience as a trainee at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition, where he worked on the ex-post evaluation of competition policy and contributed to analytical work related to the 2026 Competition Policy Brief.
His interests include industrial organization, competition policy, digital markets, and applied econometrics.
