Tom Siegmann

Research Assistant

Tom Siegmann is a Research Assistant at Lear, where he joined in September 2025.

He holds an MSc in Industrial Economics and Markets from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), where his thesis explored the price sensitivity of on-street parking demand in Madrid. Drawing on a natural experiment triggered by pollution-based pricing adjustments, his research revealed how drivers respond to price changes. The results, welcomed by the City Hall, offer valuable guidance for shaping more efficient and sustainable urban parking policies.

Before joining Lear, Tom worked at the Economic Division of the German Embassy in Italy, where he contributed to policy monitoring and reporting in the fields of energy and climate, competition law, and state aid measures, as well as broader economic, industrial, environmental, and social policy developments.

He earned his BSc in Economics and Business from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, with a thesis on firm behavior in the Italian highway retail gasoline market and the impact of price disclosure policies on competition.

Tom is fluent in Italian, German, English, and Spanish
