Luca Rancati is a Research Assistant at Lear. He graduated in September 2019 from a Msc Double Degree in Economics jointly offered by the University of Milan and the Université Catholique de Louvain-La-Neuve. The final thesis dissertation dealt with the intersection between Competition Law and Data Protection Law in the antitrust assessment of online digital platforms’ conducts.
In particular, two cases were analysed: the European Commission investigation on Facebook/WhatsApp merger and the Bundeskartellamt’s decision on Facebook’s terms and conditions, showing some possible insights and challenges related to the complex analysis of privacy as a competition parameter.
In 2016, he earned a Bachelor Degree in Philosophy at University of Milan, where he started to develop his interest in Economics.
His research interests are in the area of Competition Policy, Behavioural Economics and Regulation of Telecommunications.
