Gabriella Muscolo - Tribunale di Roma


Gabriella Muscolo is a judge in the Court of Rome since 1997. She is the Italian member of the Enlarged Board of Appeal of the European Patent Office-EPO, and she is also a trainer in the EPO Academy training courses for European Judges. She has dealt with several leading cases in IP and Competition Law. She has been the writing Judge of several decisions in this field, publishing in main specialist reviews in Italy and Europe.
In the Academic field, Gabriella Muscolo is a usual lecturer in Commercial Law at University of Roma La Sapienza and in IP and Competition Law at University of Roma 3, she also collaborates with several Italian and European Universities. She takes part in the joined training project of the University of Washington, together with others European Universities, as a lecturer in annual roving training courses for US and European trainees.
Gabriella Muscolo is a usual participant in annual refreshing courses for European Judges at the Competition Law Institute at Fordham University and, also as a panelist in OECD and RCC seminars on Competition Law in Budapest. For the year 2009- 2010 she obtained a scholarship for the training courses organised by the University College of London and Universitè de Toulouse.
She has taken part, as a senior expert, in several EC training projects on IP and Competition Law in Europe and China In November 2007 and October 2009 she was a member of the Italian delegation in the consultation meetings before the EU Commission on the White Paper for compensation of damages for breach of antitrust rules and has taken part in the working group established by Italian Supreme Court to prepare the working document on the White Paper addressed to the EU Commission.
She cooperates as an external expert with the Italian Patent and Trademark Office –UIBM- of the Ministry of Industry. She participated to UIBM official missions in Bejing, in the framework of the Action Plan involving the Chinese Patent Office (SIPO).
Gabriella Muscolo is a member of the Board of directors of AIGE- Associazione Italiana Giuristi Europei, AIGE; member of FIDE, a member and the general Secretary of the Intellectual Property Judges Association (IPJA) and a member of the Competition Law European Judges Association (AECLJ).
