Giorgio Floridia - Università Cattolica di Milano


Professor Giorgio Floridia served as a magistrate in the Court of Milan, dealing with cases concerning Intellectual Property law from 1965 to 1984 and he has been lawyer in the same area of law practice since 1984. He has been teaching Intellectual Property Law at the Catholic University of Milan, since 1970. Since 1977 he has been a member of the Advertising Self-disciplinary Committee. Since 1979 he has taken part in all the Ministerial Committees responsible for preparing drafts establishing the texts of legislation on the subject of IP rights: from the fundamental reform of the statute law on patents (1979) to that regarding industrial design and models (1987 and 2001), trademarks (1992), implementation of TRIPs (1996), the law on biotechnologies (2000). As a member of the Ministerial Committee responsible for the planned reorganisation of all IP legislation, Professor Floridia is an author of the Intellectual Property Code (2005) of which he was also in charge for the amendments.
Professor Floridia practices law in all the topics of IP before national and European courts but also carries on non judicial topics.
He is the scientific editor of the magazine "The Industrial Law" and wrote several articles and books about IP topics.
